Bhagat: Punjab Govt taking efforts to tackle cancer cases

Amritsar, May 21: As part of concerted efforts to deal with increasing number of cancer cases, the Punjab government on Saturday said it would set up ultra modern cancer hospitals in different parts of the state.

“Opening of cancer hospitals in Punjab will help patients get treatment here rather than going to other states,” State Cabinet Minister for Medical Education and Research Bhagat Chunni Lal said on the sidelines of a function at Amritsar.

The state government is also planning to provide cancer treatment at all major hospitals of the state, he said, adding, serious efforts are being made in this regard.

The Minister said the special cells for cancer treatment have already been set up in all the government-run medical colleges and some of the major hospitals.
